What A Dog's Day Out Customers Are Saying |
"I recommend A Dog's Day Out to
other dog owners for a multitude of reasons. The facility is
spotlessly clean, and has staff on-site 24 hours a day. The
dogs get lots of love and attention from the staff and the owners.
My dachshund/chihuahua mix, Peanut, is extremely shy of men,
but she hops up into Chas Richardson's lap to lavish him with
love and kisses every chance she gets. This is indicative to
me of the great treatment she receives on a daily basis there
at ADDO and from Chas specifically. Both of my dogs are extraordinary
judges of character, and I have never seen them shy away from
any member of the staff, past or present.
Furthermore, ADDO allows "sibling" dogs to board together
at bedtime when they are penned for the night (if the owner
allows it, that is). I have never before found a boarding facility
that will allow this, and have always previously been worried
about how my dogs are dealing emotionally with my absence because
of being separated at night. I no longer have that worry when
I am away, which is something you can't put a price on.
There is so much to love about dealing with Chas, Nurdan, and
ADDO. I can't imagine boarding my dogs anywhere else!" |

General Information |
| |
Dog Daycare/Boarding Information |
 |
| What is your application process? |
|
All new dogs must first complete
an Introduction Evaluation (available Monday-Friday for
$15). Dogs which show aggression fail. Nearly all other
dogs pass. Roughly 7 out of 10 dogs pass their evaluation. |
 |
| What are your vaccination requirements? |
|
All dogs must stay current on their Rabies,
Bordetella, & Distemper Vaccinations. |
 |
| Have you ever turned down any dogs before?
If so, for what reasons? |
|
Absolutely. Any aggression immediately fails
a dog in their Introduction Evaluation. Some dogs fail without
showing aggression simply because they make the rest of
their dog pack (small, medium, or large pack) extremely
uncomfortable. |
 |
| Do you have separate areas for large dogs
and small dogs? |
|
‘A Dog’s Day Out’ is the
largest cage-free daycare & boarding facility in the
Mid-Atlantic region (based upon space dedicated to play
area).
We segregate all dogs by size. Offering small, medium and
large play groups seven days a week.
Aside from the three main play rooms, we have three more
play areas which we use as needed for puppies, elders, special
needs dogs, etc.
We make sure that each dog is in a comfortable environment
while they are here. |
 |
| Is your facility indoor or outdoor? |
|
Our facility is indoors, but with many unique
features which brings the outdoors inside.
We are the only facility in the DC area with:
- A 3-story tall ceiling
- Nearly 9,000 sq ft of play space.
- Miniature Parks in EVERY play area.
- Over 60+ artificial trees throughout the play areas.
- 24-hour care (only a couple facilities offer this).
- 8 giant skylights measuring 5’x5’.
- 6 individually controlled ceiling fans.
- Two complete kitchens.
- Both ends of our facility are opened each day at least
for a couple minutes, providing a shotgun effect of the
fresh air into our facility. |
 |
| How many times per day do you walk the dogs?
Can we purchase additional walks or play time? |
|
All dogs in our care are cage-free all day
long! They enjoy themselves in the largest play areas in
our region, with staff supervision and affection. |
 |
| Do you provide dog treats? How many
times do you feed the dogs? |
|
We generally feed the dogs in our care twice
daily. Our clients are welcome to bring their own dog’s
food. We are happy to feed dogs in a way that will mimic
their routine at home. |
 |
| How often do you provide water? |
|
Water is always available in numerous locations
in all six play areas. |
 |
| Do you provide dog toys? Can we bring our
own toys and other personal belonging? |
|
The two items which all clients are welcome
to bring when their dog boards at ‘A Dog’s Day
Out’ are: food & a dog bed/blanket. Toys and treats
often start trouble amongst dogs that are otherwise the
best of friends. Treats and toys are great distractions
for our family dogs when at home, but when dogs are at ADDO
for daycare or boarding, they will be so happily worn out
that treats and toys will not be needed. |
 |
| Do you have a nap time for the dogs? |
|
No. Unlike most of the daycare facilities
in our area who have forced nap times, we give nap time
or time-outs only to those dogs which need it (puppies and
rambunctious dogs for example).
Older, mature dogs that are well-behaved never have forced
nap times, as they are able to know when to lie down and
relax when needed. |
 |
| What is your cancellation policy? |
|
Reservations are required. There is no cancellation
policy. Any payments received for pending services which
are not used at the appointed time are considered credit. |
 |
| Where is the nearest vet? Do you have a vet
on call? |
|
South Paws Animal Clinic. |
 |
| What do you do in case of emergency? |
|
Our protocol is to call the owner and then
their vet (on file) requesting further guidance. We have
numerous Veterinarians within a couple miles of our facility.
Any dog in need of immediate emergency care would be driven
to emergency care at owner’s request, or based upon
a pre-authorized letter which our client provides us to
leave on file if ever there is an emergency in their absence. |
