Overview

Affectionate Pet Care was designed with our number one priority in mind: your pet’s best interest! All of our services assure that your pet will receive the best care possible.

Dog Daycare
Dogs are divided into playgroups according to size and temperament. A day of daycare includes: play and socialization with other carefully screened dogs, the enjoyment of lots of exercise promoting health, well-being, and longevity, outdoor time to run, play, and relieve themselves every hour throughout the day, running outside in the largest fenced grass dog daycare play area in Northern Virginia, fun games of fetch, and a dip in the doggy pool in the summer time.
During nap time your dog rests comfortably on dog beds and Futons alongside their buddies or in open crates with comfy bedding. Your dog also receives constant human attention, interaction, affection, and supervision throughout their stay at APCC. Our affectionate staff is professionally trained to supervise dogs in their playgroups, and trained in Animal First Aid and CPR.

Cage Free Dog Boarding
At APCC, your dog enjoys all the same benefits of “daycare” plus spends the night with a few friends supervised by APC’s overnight staff supervisor, Gloria. Gloria stays in the room with the dogs telling them bed-time stories or watches Disney Doggy movies with them. She also gives massages to those in need of a little extra attention. She keeps them calm and encourages much needed rest, while monitoring them and screening them for any possible health issues. After a day of fun all of the dogs will snooze throughout the night to lullabies and sweet dreams!

Affectionate Pet Care Center also provides pet sitting services.

Dog Daycare/Boarding Information

What is your application process?   Before your dog can experience dog daycare or boarding in our cage-free environment you must bring your dog for an introduction evaluation. This is the screening process we complete to check all dogs for behavior and social skills before accepting them. This is to ensure your dog's safety.
What are your vaccination requirements?   For Dog Daycare, Boarding, Grooming and Training services, APCC requires a copy of your dog's vaccine records from your Vet, including up-to-date Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella shots.
You can have your Veterinarian fax us your records, or bring them with you on your first visit to Affectionate Pet Care Center.
Have you ever turned down any dogs before? If so, for what reasons?   Yes, unfortunately not all dogs are suited for this type of environment. Dogs must be comfortable interacting with a group of other dogs.
Do you have separate areas for large dogs and small dogs?   Dogs are divided into playgroups according to size and temperament.
We have: Small Dog Room, Big Dog Room, Puppy Room and we are expanding our facility to add an extra room for Special Attention dogs, as well as bedroom suites for those who need a little time to rest quietly by themselves.
Is your facility indoor or outdoor?   Dogs are indoors, and taken outdoors into our fenced grass yards to exercise, and relieve themselves. On nice weather days they may be out for long periods, always supervised by staff in and outdoors.
How many times per day do you walk the dogs? Can we purchase additional walks or play time?   Dogs are taken out in our yards to walk/run about every hour throughout the day. All "walks" and playtime are included for no extra charge.
Do you provide dog treats?  How many times do you feed the dogs?   Yes, we provide dog treats. We can feed you dog as many times per day as needed.
How often do you provide water?   Water is always available for dogs at all times in and outside.
Do you provide dog toys? Can we bring our own toys and other personal belonging?   We provide toys. We prefer that you do not bring your own toys because other dogs will have access to them and may get lost or chewed on by another dog. You may bring other personal belongings such as dog food, beds, or crates.
Do you require a nap time for the dogs? The dogs will nap when we turn off the lights and either play doggie lullabies, or low volume TV. If a puppy or very active dog needs nap time away from the group we can do that as well.
What is your cancellation policy?   On all major holidays we charge a $28 cancellation fee for boarding only. We do not charge a cancellation fee for daycare, unless you do not show up for a booked reservation.
Where is the nearest vet? Do you have a vet on call? We have many Vets close by. We use Companion Animal Clinic, Parkway Vet, and University Vet, as well as Pender Vet for after hour emergencies.
What do you do in case of emergency?   Our staff is Pet First Aid trained therefore we can stabilize a pet until we get them to the Vet.
