Dog Daycare/Boarding Information |
 |
| What is your application process? |
|
Each dog will be met by a qualified
staff person who has been trained to watch for aggression.
We bring in another dog for the screening in order to watch
the new dogs reaction. We also have a questionaire filled
out by the owners. |
 |
| What are your vaccination requirements? |
|
We require Rabies and DHPP annually and Bordetella
every six months. |
 |
| Have you ever turned down any dogs before?
If so, for what reasons? |
|
We release dogs that are a danger to themselves,
others or the staff. Sometimes this is due to aggression,
but more often than not it is due to the lack of control.
Many owners label their dogs as a energetic puppy and do
not try to instill basic commands or controls. When that
same dog comes to an environment that stimulates him, he
becomes uncontrollable. |
 |
| Do you have separate areas for large dogs
and small dogs? |
|
Yes. |
 |
| Is your facility indoor or outdoor? |
|
Our facility is indoors but the dogs receive
three walks per day for day care and five walks per day
for overnight care. |
 |
| How many times per day do you walk the dogs?
Can we purchase additional walks or play time? |
|
Three times per day for day care dogs, Five
times per day for overnight dogs. These are potty-breaks
only. We encourage use of our day care facility for exercise. |
 |
| Do you provide dog treats? How many
times do you feed the dogs? |
|
We do have treats but do not give them out
liberaly as so many dogs have diet restrictions. |
 |
| How often do you provide water? |
|
All the time. |
 |
| Do you provide dog toys? Can we bring our
own toys and other personal belonging? |
|
We do provide toys. We ask that dogs do not
bring personal belongings as they will feel the need to
protect them from the other dogs. |
 |
| What is your cancellation policy? |
|
Day before for day care reservations and
grooming reservations. At least three business days before
for boarding reservations. |
 |
| Do you have a nap time for the dogs? |
|
Yes, twice a day. |
 |
| Where is the nearest vet? Do you have a vet
on call? |
|
Our nearest vet is two miles away from us.
We do not currently have a vet on call. |
 |
| What do you do in case of emergency? |
|
Every emergency is treated on its own merits.
Some require vet visits, other require first aid. In the
event of an emergency requiring a vet visit, the vet is
called while we are enroute, the owner is called while we
are enroute. In the event a dog simply needs first aid,
first aid is administered and then the owner is notified
via phone. |

Awards & Press Mentions |
Washingtonian: "...The list of activities reads like
a summer-camp schedule: hide and seek, bubble chasing, soccer,
and story time, when staffers actually read stories to tuckered-out
pooches..." |
The Washington Post: "In case you're afraid you'll miss
your dog too much during the day, you might want to check out
Ana's Ark, a 2,400-square-foot facility in Rockville owned by
Anneliese Johnson. There, a live "dog-cam" allows a
client to log on to its Web site and watch the dogs at play. Another
unique feature is the specially designed "pet music,"
which is piped throughout the facility; nap-time selections are
calm and soothing, while playtime tunes are lively and upbeat." |
