Overview

Central Bark is a mid-sized dog daycare facility offering daycare, boarding, grooming, and training in Colorado Springs, CO since 2001. We are not the biggest, and have no desire to be so. Instead, our focus is on providing a personalized experience for your dog. We follow regulations that require 1 handler for 15 dogs in play group, and limit play groups to 60 dogs max. We do get to know, and love, your dog!

What Central Bark Dog Daycare & Boarding Customers Are Saying

"Bandit loves [Central Bark Dog Daycare], she comes home and is calm, she still plays with us but she has much better manners. (I can assure you that is thanks to Sharon and her folks). Bandit can't wait to get out of the car when we drive up to the door. You can tell that everyone at the Day Care Center really enjoy"s the animals and likes what they are doing. Bandit has not only been at Day Care, she has also boarded with Sharon. Bandit was on antibiotics when she had to be kenneled, I never worried that she would not get her medicine, her people are very responsible and I can honestly say they have the dog's best interest at heart.
It should also be noted that Sharon and her people will bend over backwards to work with their 'human clients.' Central Bark is the only facility that I know of that has late pick-up on the week-ends during ski season. This is so nice especially if you only ski the day, you can just pay for one day of day care as opposed to having to pay for boarding for the weekend. I trust Sharon and Central Bark with a precious member of our family. I would not hesitate to recommend her and her facility to anyone."

Dog Daycare/Boarding Information

What is your application process?   Fill out 4 pages of forms: Basic info, Health/Temperament Agreement, Pet Personality Profile, Optional Health Care Warranty. Provide shot records. Attend a free introductory day of daycare only. We temperament test to determine if the dog is a good fit for daycare. We get to know the dog, the dog gets to know us, and the dog finds out that its owner comes back.
What are your vaccination requirements?   Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella. We do honor annual Bordetella vaccinations if the annual due date is in writing. If all we have is the date it was given, we assume it is good for 6 months.
Have you ever turned down any dogs before? If so, for what reasons?   Yes, aggression towards other dogs or people.
Do you have separate areas for large dogs and small dogs?   Yes. We can divide the dogs into as many as 4 groups if necessary.
Is your facility indoor or outdoor?   Indoors. The large dog playfloor is rubber, with indoor turf/rock areas. The small dogs play on a seamless epoxy floor that has some texture (but not as much traction as the rubber floor). The small dog area has a turf tray.
How many times per day do you walk to dogs? Can we purchase additional walks or play time?   We provide short potty walks as needed for dogs who will not use the indoor facilities. 15-minute "real" walks are available for $5 extra per walk.
Do you provide dog treats?  How many times do you feed the dogs?   Yes. We provide all-natural biscuits. Dogs are fed on the schedule requested by their owner. We do ask that the owner provides the dog's regular food.
How often do you provide water?   All day except daycare-only dogs may not have access to water during naptime which is from noon to 1:00 pm. Boarding dogs always have fresh water in their kennels.
Do you provide dog toys? Can we bring our own toys and other personal belonging?   We provide nylabones, kongs, tennis balls and a few other sturdy toys. Owners can bring 1-2 toys for their dogs. We prefer these not be rope toys as these can be hazardous.
Do you require a nap time for the dogs? Yes - from noon - 1:00 pm Monday - Friday. Weekend naps are longer, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
What is your cancellation policy?   PLEASE call us and let us known you're not coming!
Where is the nearest vet? Do you have a vet on call? Rockrimmon Animal Hospital, 1 mile away. We go there for daytime emergencies if we cannot get the dog to its regular vet.
What do you do in case of emergency?   We try to get the dog to its regular vet if during business hours. Otherwise, we go to the Animal Emergency Clinic which is located nearby. We will attempt to notify the owner - but will get the dog assistance as quickly as possibly, even if we do not reach the owner.
