What Best Friends Pet Resort and Canine Academy Customers Are Saying

"I would recommend Best Friends Pet Resort to other dog owners simply because they care about my dogs as if they were their own. I never have to worry about my dogs while they are in the care of Best Friends Pet Resort. Frankly, my dogs can speak for themselves with regards to the care they receive. They both whine and wag their tails in excitement once we turn on the driveway to enter Best Friends Pet Resort. My dogs, who normally heel when on leash, pull to get inside the gate of the facility and jump up on Augusta, who greets them with a smile. They go with her and her staff willingly and happily. They love the play group time and grooming is done well. What more can we ask for?"

Dog Daycare/Boarding Information

What is your application process?   Owners sign a services contract plus show a current vaccination certificate. For dogs in playgroups owners sign an additional Playgroup Agreement (outlining our policies and practices). Dogs are handled and evaluated for suitability to join the playgroups by the facility owner.
What are your vaccination requirements?   We require documentation from the client's veterinarian showing current dates for Rabies, core/combination and annual Bordetella vaccination. Cats must be current on Rabies and the core/combination.
Have you ever turned down any dogs before? If so, for what reasons?   To join our playgroups, dogs must have good social skills. Because we also board, we can offer other boarding and daycare activities, such as nature walks, belly rubs, training, playing in pools and our pond.
Do you have separate areas for large dogs and small dogs?   Small and large dogs are separated in playgroups.
Is your facility indoor or outdoor?   We are primarily an outdoor facility with covered patios and large exercise yards. There are a limited number of indoor enclosures. Nature walks are taken around our pond and training field. Watch for our new indoor climate controlled facility due for completion in the spring of 2007.
How many times per day do you walk the dogs? Can we purchase additional walks or play time?   Boarding dogs remain in their groups until feeding and nap time. After naps they regroup for more play. Dogs in daycare remain in the playgroups. Dogs being walked in lieu of play receive 1 Nature Walk plus personal time in the play yards. More walks, training, or other activities can be purchased.
Do you provide dog treats?  How many times do you feed the dogs?   Boarding dogs receive bedtime snacks and owners can bring snacks. Feeding daycare dogs is not part of the routine unless requested by the owner.
How often do you provide water?   Fresh water is accessible to all dogs at all times and wading pools are available in season.
Do you provide dog toys? Can we bring our own toys and other personal belonging?   Clients can bring toys for dogs being boarded. We use special toys and obstacles for the dogs' enjoyment in the playgroups.
Do you require a nap time for the dogs? Boarding dogs nap after meals. Daycare dogs can nap at will. Most nap frequently, between bursts of energy.
What is your cancellation policy?   Reservations are suggested. We appreciate cancellation notice.
Where is the nearest vet? Do you have a vet on call? For emergencies, the Patterson Veterinary Hospital is 4 miles away. In the event of a less serious problem, we use the owner's preferred vet or, after hours, the Modesto Emergency Clinic.
What do you do in case of emergency?   In addition to the information listed above, we make every attempt to communicate a problem with the owner or their designee.
